Obtaining
your Private Pilots Licence (Helicopter) - PPL (H).
Achieving your pilot's license is dependent on practical
flying lessons and theory (written) exams. This section
details both requirements. For more detailed information

LICENCE SKILLS TEST
Prior to your taking your Licence Skills Test (in effect the final flying exam) you must have taken and passed all the above ground subjects also it is a good idea to have passed bothe the Oral and Practical sections of the RT exam as well.
Of
the 45 (or 39 hours for the holder of a current PPL(A)) a minimum of 25 Hours must be dual (ie
instructional) including 5 hrs instrument flying. 10 Hours solo flying must be carried
out (minimum) which includes 5 hours navigation with a solo
cross-country flight of at least 100 nautical miles away
comprising two landings at separate airfields.

are available from Thurston Helicopters :- It is perfectly
possible to pass all the necessary exams by a simple self-study
method but we can provide one-to-one ground based training
in the exams (at a small extra cost) if required. Ask to
be put in touch with our Ground Instructor if this method
suits you.
